ZOMBIE TRAITS

These are the traits that are usually associated with zombies. Of course, many films or literature will have different traits listed and this list is by no means inclusive…but it can serve as a general guideline.

  • Zombies have a craving for human flesh.
  • When a body becomes dead, in a few hours, it will turn into a zombie.
  • For the most part, zombies are not abnormally strong. However, there are many examples of weak zombies yet also cases of zombies strong enough to rip people apart.
  • A zombie has no instinct for self-survival.
  • Zombies seem to have no association with other zombies yet they are usually found in packs or groups. It may be a case they feel another zombie might "know" something (i.e.-where food is at) that they don’t.
  • Zombies have no memories of their former…live…self.
  • Although zombies "eat" humans, it doesn’t appear that they need the "food" to survive.
  • It is believed that in most cases, a zombie biting a live human will turn that person into a zombie…first by causing death, then the reanimation process will follow.
  • The biological processes involved in zombies defies all medical and biological logic, as the bodies work without substance, blood flow, internal organs, bodily fluids, etc.
  • Zombies can somehow tell the difference between living and dead flesh. Whether it is purely by sight or perhaps smell, is unknown.
  • Zombies will not attack each other, even over food. They may fight over it but it doesn’t result in an altercation between the zombies.
  • Zombies move quite slow…but they never get tired and that’s why they often catch people because they never, ever stop.
  • When not eating, zombies don’t sleep. They just wander aimlessly, waiting to find food. (flesh)
