provides the text for one of the great masters of book illustrations, Gustave
Doré.
Many of the illustrations are full page in this all new translation of the classic
first part of The Divine Comedy by Dante. The designs of the levels of Hell as
Dante descendeds into the great abyss have influenced writers for centuries.
Note: the third installment to finish Dante's Inferno was never released.
