Hero Alliance

Hero AllianceIt was the end of the Golden Age.  Here, the saga of Victor, the greatest hero of them all unfolds.  He was there at the enlightened age when great heroes fought for everything they were supposed to fight for.  But time marches on for the others, only Victor stayed and the new breed of heroes thought more of their celebrity status than good deeds.  But now, a new team is assembling...40 years after Victor had joined his first group.  Can he lead them?  Does he want to?

Hero Alliance was one of the first titles that came out and gave superheroes a different spin.  It treated them a bit more seriously and gave personalities to the heroes beyond the simple fight against Evil.  When the Hero Alliance graphic novel introduced the group, it set a new standard for superheroes and their treatment.  However, soon after, Watchmen came out which completely revolutionized (along with Batman: The Dark Knight) the standard perceptions of super heroes.  Hero Alliance and its companion title, Power Factor, hadn't gone as far as those two but they were definitely on the way but they got lost in the wave that the work of Frank Miller and Alan Moore had created.

Caliber has a few copies of the Hero Alliance graphic novel as well as some of the Hero Alliance Quarterlies.  The Quarterlies, released from Innovation, are not as ground breaking as the Pied Piper graphic novel was and center more on the titillation factor but still hold up well.
