The Creative Team
Michael Fraley began drawing professionally as a newspaper sketch artist for the sports section of the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel in the late 1980's. That led into book illustration for Alpha Books of Carmel, Indiana, more book illustrations for an independent publisher, and his major comic book series, "Arthur: King of Britain," which was published by Caliber Press's Tome imprint in the early 1990's. Michael became a graphic designer and authored a newspaper tech column. Currently, Michael is focusing on marketing his fine art and illustration, and is working on projects associated with "Seekers of Tomorrow," which features characters making new lives for themselves on dying Mars in the distant future. Michael earned his BFA in Fine Arts from Indiana University Purdue University at Fort Wayne, and is a member of the Chicago Society of Artists, and also associated with the Northern Indiana Pastel Society.
From veteran comic writer/artist Michael Fraley comes this history of the famous and legendary character known as King Arthur. This fully illustrated comic series and collected graphic novel is faithfully based on the original adventure of Arthur as it was written by Geoffrey of Monmouth in the 12th century. Geoffrey’s work is considered one of the most important books of the medieval period and served as the skeletal framework from which all Arthurian tales have since been based. This was the work created and written before later authors and Hollywood added their own embellishments.
In Geoffrey’s written work, there was no Camelot, no round table, no holy grail, and no Knights of Chivalry.
But there is Arthur and this is his tale.
The character of Arthur is considered to be based on a real person that Geoffrey discovered in his research. The mentor and magician, Merlin, was a creation of Geoffrey that was added to serve as a narration device for unveiling Arthur's tale.
Graphic novel collects all 5 issues.
